Home Away from Home
Nestled along the coast of Eastern, NC, this quaint southern culture sets the stage for a wondrous home away from home in the heart of the Inner Banks. The pristine wetlands, natural settings and proximity to the Intracoastal Waterway provide an abundance of recreational, educational and cultural activities to enjoy throughout the year. The Inner Bank’s agreeable climate, small town hospitality, and miles and miles of waterfront property make it appealing to people with a variety of interests and backgrounds. The historic towns of Washington, Bath and Bellhaven are steeped in history dating back to the days of Pirates and English traders hauling goods in wooden sloops. The charm of these towns is carefully being preserved while making room for growth. Much of the Inner Bank’s recent growth has been fueled by retirees and small business entrepreneurs finding a home here. Many small towns on the Inner Banks have joined together to strengthen the region’s economy by fostering an environment that is attractive to knowledge workers, artists, and other people working in the creative economy.
The Intracoastal and The Three Rivers
This coastal region was branded the Inner Banks to distinguish it from the Outer Banks a string of small islands off the coast of North Carolina that are a popular tourist attraction. The Inner Banks is comprised of over 3,000 miles of inland coastline and is home to over 2.5 million residents. The Inner Banks lie between Interstate-95 to the west, the Outer Banks, and extends from the Virginia border down to the South Carolina border. Our slice of heaven is comprised of the riverfronts of the Pungo, Pamlico and Neuse Rivers. The Intracoastal Waterway connects through these rivers. Because these rivers eventually lead to the Atlantic Ocean, the Salt Water sportsman finds this to be a paradise.
